HOW CAN I BE SAVED?
If you died right now, where would you go? If you're not sure, let us share with you the good news that God loves you and offers you eternal life in heaven as a free gift. He has a plan for your life and wants to come into a relationship with you. There are simply four principles that will help you discover how to come into a personal relationship with God: (the following scriptures are taken from the King James Bible)
Principle #1 |
God loves YOU and has a plan for your life |
God loves you: |
Principle #2 |
Man is SEPARATED from God because of sin |
Sin is anything that we say, do, or think, that is wrong, or displeases God. Sin has separated us from a relationship with God. The penalty for sin is death and hell. Though people continue to try to reach God through their own efforts, we can never be good enough to reach God. Man is sinful: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" (Romans 3:23) The penalty for sin is eternal separation from God: "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:23) |
Principle #3 |
Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to God |
Because Jesus died for our sins, we can come into a relationship with God. God offers us eternal life with Him in heaven as a free gift because of what Jesus has done. Jesus died for our sins: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) He rose from the dead: "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) Jesus is the ONLY way: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6) |
Principle #4 |
We must INDIVIDUALLY receive Jesus as Lord and Savior |
Just like any gift, we must receive God's gifts in order to have eternal life. We must give our lives to Jesus and receive Him into our hearts. Once we take this step, we come back into a relationship with God. We are saved by believing that Jesus is the Son of God and was raised from the dead. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9) We receive Christ through faith, or a trusting belief in Him. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) |
